Point Pleasant

As we learned on "The Mothman Legend" page, Point Pleasant was the birthplace of Mothman in 1966. As such, the town has even constructed a large, life-size sculpture of Mothman that it has put on display, becoming a popular selfie spot for tourists (Prats, 2018).

The Mothman Festival

The town of Point Pleasant holds annual Mothman Festivals, except for recent years due to COVID-19. If fact, many of the town's businesses have reported hefty blows in their needed income due to the loss of the popular tourist festival (Gens, 2015).

The Mothman Museum

The quaint small town also has "the world's only Mothman Museum" complete with videos, recordings, and newspaper clippings related to the Mothman legend (Hintz, 2016). Also, make sure to stop by the giftshop on the way out! There is a lot of memorabilia to be had.

Local Businesses Adopt Mothman

As seen to the right, Harris Steakhouse, a local eatery in Point Pleasant, shows off their Mothman memorabilia for sale. Many businesses have found more sales from embracing the tourism Mothman brings to Point Pleasant. Restaurants even have Mothman themed foods for sale, and local artists make crafts to sell at the annual festival. (Sergent, 2016)
